On 26 June, Azerbaijan is celebrating the Armed Forces Day.
On 26 June 1918, the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan Republic was created following the decision by the Council of Ministers of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, with this being the legal basis for forming the Armed forces of independent Azerbaijan.
On October 9, 1991, the Supreme Soviet of Azerbaijan passed the Law On the Establishment of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan.This was considered the birthday of the Armed Forces of modern Azerbaijan.
On May 22, 1998 according to Decree No. 707 issued by Heydar Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, this historical day – June 26 -- was declared the Day of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, which is annually celebrated by the Azerbaijani people and is the nonworking day.
