Bloomberg local journalist Haze Fan has been arrested in China. He is accused of endangering national security. Fan was picked up by security officials when he was leaving home in the morning.
Representatives of Bloomberg are in constant contact with the Chinese authorities to find out the circumstances surrounding the journalist's arrest.
Haze Fan has been with Bloomberg since 2017; before that, he was a local representative for CNBC, CBS News, Al Jazeera, and Reuters.
Since 2020, the international media has been under pressure from the Chinese communist government. Beijing has revoked the accreditation of several international journalists this year and expelled them from the country.
In August, authorities arrested an Australian journalist of Chinese descent who worked for state-run CGTN. He was also charged with illegal activities and endangering the security of the country.
