Coronavirus circulation 'has spiraled out of control' in Armenia

Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan on Friday expressed his concerns of the recently reported coronavirus cases in Armenia, noting that the sources of the infection remain largely unidentified despite the decrease in the daily dynamics.

"We cannot state that the spread of coronavirus is coming to a halt or extinguishing 100 per cent," he said at a parliament committee meeting.

"While we used to have 50 cases [per day] - all coming from a single source - we presently record 16, 20 or 30 [daily] cases from 10-20 different sources. Hence the circulation of the virus is spiraling out control, but our task is to spot and test the possible cases, and isolate and treat them," Torosyan said, stressing the importance of managing the hospital overload and reducing the deaths.

Meantime he underlined the need of preparing for the worst-case scenario, calling for strong efforts to maximum avoid such an outcome.
