The first infected patient in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh died after being infected with Delta Plus strain, the State Minister Vishwa Sarang told journalists.
Sarang said a total of 5 cases of infection with this strain had been confirmed in the state.
"It is noteworthy that 4 out of 5 people whose samples tested positive for Delta Plus received the vaccine and are currently healthy. However, one patient who did not get vaccinated died of the virus," he said.
The minister called on the population to get vaccinated against coronavirus.
As of June 22, the next mutated strain of COVID-19 "Delta Plus" was detected in three states of India.
