The former Chairperson and CEO of Nissan and Renault, accused of financial fraud in Japan who was held in Tokyo under house arrest, fled to Lebanon.

According to Carlos Ghosn, the Japanese judicial system is denying basic human rights, and he is not going to be a hostage of this system. The former Chairperson and CEO of Nissan and Renault said he intends to speak to the media soon.

Japanese media reports that a man, who looks like Carlos Ghosn, arrived at a Beirut airport by private jet. It should be noted that there is no extradition agreement between Beirut and Tokyo.

Carlos Ghosn was arrested on charges of enriching from the income of the company in November 2018. The Japanese Prosecutor's Office formally charged him with financial fraud and abuse of power in January 2019. The trial of Ghosn was scheduled in 2020.
