Figures from Public Health France showed that a record number of 20,330 people had tested positive for COVID-19 over the last 24 hours; confirmed cases since the outbreak now stand at 691 977.
A total of 109 people have died to bring the death toll to 32,630. A dramatic increase in cases has led to stiffened coronavirus restrictions in the country.
