The military operation to cleanse and liquidate terrorists at the Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan has completed. According to the Ministry of Defense, nine terrorists were killed and one detained as a result of the operation carried out by the coalition forces. The Georgian military was involved in the operation.
According to the Ministry, Georgian peacekeepers were responsible for security of the perimeter.
"According to Giorgi Jincharadze, the Commander of the 12th Battalion, the terrorists failed to accomplish their goal fully. The situation at the military base is completely controlled. Georgian military involved in the terrorist cleansing and liquidation operation were not injured. They continue to carry out the tasks assigned," reads the statement.
Five militants of the Georgian contingent's rapid response unit were slightly injured in the attack on the Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan. The extremists have installed two explosives in two vehicles at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan, near NATO convoy. The blast killed one person and wounded 73. The radical Taliban movement claimed responsibility for the explosion.
