"Today is a historic day. The victory parade is underway at Azadliq Square. I am glad that the President of Turkey, my dear brother Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has accepted my invitation and is taking part in the parade," said Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in a speech at the victory parade.
"A large Turkish delegation, as well as Turkish soldiers and officers, are present here. All this is a demonstration of our unity, friendship, and brotherhood," he said.
The people of Azerbaijan have once again seen strong support from Turkey.
"100 years later, in 2018, at a military parade in Baku with the participation of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey, Azerbaijani and Turkish soldiers in a modern military uniform, symbolically marched in the military uniform of the Caucasus Islamic Army, clearly reflecting our brotherhood and eternal unity. During the 44 days of the Patriotic War, which was aimed at almost 30 years of aggression and Armenia's occupation policy against Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani people have once again seen the strong and unequivocal support of Turkey," Aliyev said.
