Iran and Georgia shut down airspaces and land borders to prevent Armenia from getting weapons: Aliyev

We have no information saying that Armenia is being provided with military equipment from Iran, Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev said in his interview with Turkish channel A Haber.

"I can bring an example of Iran and Georgia, which shut down their airspaces and land borders to prevent Armenia from getting military equipment via these countries. We want to thank the Georgian and Iranian authorities for taking this step. We have been informed that contraband weapons have been transported to Armenia via civil and cargo aircraft from the territory of Georgia today.

Armenia has recently purchased an aircraft which, according to our source, is worth around USD 30 or 40 million. Wealthy Armenian tycoons - Karapetian, Abramian, and others - residing in Russia bought the aircraft. They are sending Armenians living in Russia as mercenaries who will fight against us in Nagorno-Karabakh.

That is why we officially address the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to study this issue and resolve it. Similar actions constitute an international crime; sending illegal weapons to Armenia is unacceptable," Aliyev declared.
