The American company Moderna is launching clinical trials of the coronavirus vaccine in children. The studies will be conducted on children from 6 months to 12 years.
The study is conducted in collaboration with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the U.S. Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA).
"We are pleased to launch Phase 2 and 3 of the mRNA-1273 study on healthy children in the United States and Canada. We want to thank NIAID and BARDA for cooperation," said Moderna, CEO.
It is known that about 6 750 children will take part in the study. In the first phase, participants aged 2 to 12 will receive one or two doses, and participants aged six months to two years will receive three doses. An intermediate analysis will then be performed to determine which dose will be used in the 2/3 phase of the controlled study. After the second vaccination, the study participants will be monitored for 12 months.
