Monitoring in Nagorno-Karabakh to be carried out by Russian and Turkish contingents

Russia has been sending a peacekeeping contingent to Nagorno-Karabakh since morning. According to an agreement reached between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and Russian President Vladimir Putin, hostilities in unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh will cease on November 10, with Russia deploying up to 2 000 peacekeepers and Armenia withdrawing troops. Pashinyan, Aliyev, and Putin have already signed the agreement.

According to the document, all military operations in the conflict zone will completely stop, and Azerbaijan and Armenia will stop at their positions.

The Aghdam region and the territories occupied by the Armenian side in the Gazakh are being returned to Azerbaijan. The Russian peacekeeping contingent will be stationed along the dividing line and the Lachin corridor for five years.

A celebration followed the agreement in the streets of Baku. According to the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, "the long-standing conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan has come to an end."

An agreement will be signed today, according to which the Ministries of Defense of Russia and Turkey will set up a monitoring center to ensure peace processes in Nagorno-Karabakh.

A protest followed the prime minister of Armenia's decision to end the hostilities in Yerevan. Citizens gathered in Republic Square in Yerevan. Part of them broke into the Government House. Protesters physically assaulted the Chairperson of the Armenian Parliament. In response to the events, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said he had no other choice and called on the public to remain calm.

Pashinyan posted another statement on Facebook, noting that he is in Armenia and serves as Prime Minister.
