The American magazine Time named him "Person of the Year". The authors of the publication in 2020 granted this status to two candidates - Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and Vice Presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
The shortlist was released a day before the results were announced. It included American politicians Donald Trump and Joe Biden, infectious disease specialist Anthony Fauci and medical professionals who fought to save lives at the risk of death during the coronavirus pandemic. The list also includes the Black Lives Matter movement for racial justice, which was founded after the assassination of George Floyd.
