Russia is ready to discuss the issue of supersonic missiles with the United States in the context of strategic security. Sergey Lavrov, the Foreign Minister of Russia, said that a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo would take place in the coming days.
The 1987 U.S.-Russia nuclear deal, which banned having, producing and testing of short- and medium-range missiles, lost its force after both countries left the deal on August 2, 2019. The cancellation of the agreement worsened tensions between opponents of the Cold War.
