Some schools in Baku have introduced a six-day school week.
The city's education department says the new initiative aims to help students cover all required educational programs.
According to the department, a six-day school week will be introduced in 45 schools citywide.
In Azerbaijan, a new academic year for first-fourth graders started on 22 September and on 29 September for fifth-eleventh graders.
