Stone found in garden turns out to be ancient Roman artifact

A woman found a piece of marble in her garden in Hampshire, the UK, which later turned out to be an ancient Roman artifact worth 15 000 pounds sterling. The woman found the stone in the garden 20 years ago, though she did not know its significance, and used the artifact as a shelf in the shed. One day a woman noticed a laurel wreath on a stone and decided to consult with archaeologists.

It turned out that the artifact dates back to the 2nd century AD, and the place of probable origin must have been the territory of modern Turkey.

The marble slab will be auctioned off, where its starting price will be between 10 to 15 000 pound sterling. Similar types of artifacts were brought to Europe by aristocrats due to travel in the 18th and 19th centuries.
