The United States condemns Russia's "dangerous and irresponsible" test of an anti-satellite missile. This was announced at the State Department, the BBC reports.
The State Department says Russia's actions pose a threat to the crew on the International Space Station.
According to the publication, as a result of the test of the rocket, one of the Russian satellites exploded and formed debris, which forced the crew of the space station to take refuge in the capsules.
There are currently seven crew members on the International Space Station, including four Americans, one German, and two Russians.
A spokesperson for the United States Department of State, Edward Price, said the thousands of orbital debris pose a threat to the interests of all countries. He said the US would work with partners and allies to respond to Russia's irresponsible actions.
According to the Russian space agency "Roscosmos," the crew on the International Space Station is not in danger.
