Scientists have determined that the world's oldest shark will soon be 400 years old. It was discovered in the North Atlantic back in 2016.

Scientists could not determine the shark's exact age then; it ranged from 272 to 512 years.

It has now been confirmed that the shark is 397 years old.

The reason for such a long life of a shark is low metabolism. For example, according to the Lad Bible, the period of puberty in female sharks comes only at the age of 150.
