Officers of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia arrested seven persons for the production and use of false tax documents by deceiving the owner of the property and causing a large amount of property damage and legalization of illicit income.
The investigation established that several companies operating in the Adjara region had unregistered fuel, to cover their source of origin and disguise their ownership, the defendants falsified their tax invoices related to the sale of petroleum products.
By producing false documents, the unauthorized petroleum product was brought into civil circulation. Thus the perpetrators received illicit income of GEL 1 872 349. At the same time, the above operations resulted in the creation of a counterfeit asset of GEL 285,000 in value-added tax. Following his arrest, one of the defendants contributed GEL 155,000 to the budget.
The investigation is in progress under the second paragraph of Article 210 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, the third part of Articles 185 and 194, which envisages imprisonment from 9 to 12 years.
