Batumi awarded the title of UNESCO City of Music

"Batumi has been awarded the title of UNESCO City of Music. With this title, Batumi is the first city in Georgia to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network," the administration of the Government of Adjara spreads information.

According to them, the title was awarded based on the application submitted by Batumi City Hall to UNESCO, which means the city's readiness to share best practices and strengthen cooperation, which will promote creativity and cultural industries, as well as increase participation in cultural life. In addition, representatives of the city music industry will have the opportunity to participate in unique projects or events that are open only to the UNESCO City of Music representatives.

Along with Batumi, UNESCO music cities are Liverpool, Glasgow, Kingston, Auckland, and others.

Another 48 cities around the world have joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, including Tbilisi, for the development of media art.

The Creative Cities Network has been in existence since 2004 and currently brings together 295 cities from 90 countries around the world to implement projects in the fields of media arts, music, cinematography, gastronomy, design, folklore, and handicrafts.
