"The theater management believes that to announce the name of the leader before the official introduction to his team is an extreme degree of disrespect for the troupe's artists.
Therefore, we have to suspend the contract concluded with the artist until all the circumstances of the appearance of this information in public space are clarified," the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater (NOVAT) said in a statement.
It notes that the final decision will be made in mid-January after a meeting between NOVAT's artistic director Vladimir Kekhman and Nino Ananiashvili.
Earlier in an exclusive interview with the Georgian service of Radio Liberty, Ananiashvili said that she had decided to head the ballet troupe of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater. According to her, she was supposed to go to Novosibirsk at the end of January.
