The Deputy Chairman of Foreign Affairs Committee at the Parliament of Georgia, Tsotne Zurabian reflects to the TANAP project opening by saying that the Southern corridor has particular importance for the security of Georgia and the region in general.
“The major part of the project is completed and the pipeline is ready to supply gas from Azerbaijan to the European countries passing through Georgia and Turkey. The TANAP and TAP projects will increase the income of the countries and will also contribute to the independence of the European countries from Russian energy supply.
TANAP is the longest pipeline not only in our region but in Europe as well. Successful implementation of the project is one more justification of the potential of our region, proving that the neighborhood politics counting for stability and the interests of the parties has no alternative” – said Zirabian.
Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, Erdogan and Ilham Aliyev opened TANAP project in Turkey yesterday.
Georgia will get over 1.1 billion cubic meters of gas as a transit share.
