Late nurse Megi Bakradze's case: Health workers charged

The Office of the Prosecutor General of Georgia has submitted formal charges against Akhaltsikhe Imedi Clinic doctors, known only as B.L. and V.I., as well as the nurse, identified as T.G. They have been accused of providing investigators with false information.

The statement by the Office says that the investigation of the case is underway under Part 1 of Article 116 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, envisaging criminal negligence offenses.

According to the statement, following vaccination at the Akhaltsikhe Imedi Clinic, nurse Megi Bakradze's health condition deteriorated, and after provided with medical assistance, she was transported to Tbilisi's First University Clinic, where she died on 19 March.

Doctors B.L. and V.I. and nurse T.G. were questioned for further details, and they obstructed the investigation by giving false testimony to hide the fact that doctor V.I. was not with the patients when she was provided with the first aid. Following V.I.'s testimony, after late Megi Bakradze's medical state worsened, the patient was provided with a due medical assistant. Doctor B.L. and nurse T.G. also verified the testimony as true. However, it was determined later that V.I. has not employed any medicine to improve the patient's health condition after the vaccination, and, moreover, the doctor was not even present in the room.

The statement goes on to say that charges against doctors B.L and V.I., as well as nurse T.G., have already been pressed. They have pleaded guilty.

Megi Bakradze, a young nurse, 27, slipped into a coma after an AstraZeneca jab in the Akhaltsikhe municipality.

The nurse was taken to the First University clinic, Tbilisi, where she died.

Investigators are looking into her death.
