Officers of the Kakheti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have opened the fact of the murder and wounding of three people in Gurjaani Municipality.

According to the agency, two people have been arrested: A.T., born in 1965, and J.T., born in 1980.

The offense carries a maximum sentence of 16 to 20 years or life imprisonment.

"The investigation established that on March 25, 2021, in the vicinity of the village of Chumlaki, Gurjaani Municipality, an automatic firearm was fired at a vehicle belonging to M.B., born in 1979. As a result, I.Ch., born in 1979, died on the spot, while M.M., born in 1990, Z.B., born in 1972, and the owner of the car himself - M.B. received various health injuries. All three wounded were taken to a clinic where they are undergoing treatment.

During a personal search of the arrested defendants, law enforcement officers seized 2 Kalashnikov rifles, two cartridge holders, and eight ammunition cartridges.

The facts of premeditated murder and attempted premeditated murder committed under aggravated circumstances against three persons, as well as illegal purchase, storage, and carrying of firearms, are being investigated under Articles 108, 19-109, and 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia," the statement reads.

A 40-year-old man was shot dead in a car near the village of Chumlaki in Kakheti yesterday.
