The officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Isani-Samgori Main Division of Tbilisi Police Department, as a result of operative and investigative actions, detained D.K., born in 1991, in Kakheti on charges of illegal purchase-storage-carrying of firearms and damage to someone else's belongings.
"The investigation established that on March 17 of 2021, D.K. shot a banner on the facade of the office of the United National Movement on Kakheti Highway from a car with a pneumatic weapon and fled the scene.
Law enforcers arrested D.K. within hours of the incident, on a hot pursuit. During the search of the detainee's apartment, the police seized a pneumatic pistol, firearm cartridges, and the drug "marijuana." The detainee confessed to the crime," the MIA revealed.
The investigation is underway under Articles 236 and 187 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which stipulate illegal purchase, possession, carrying of a firearm, and damage to another's property.
The offense carries a maximum sentence of 4 to 7 years in prison.
