U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken has thanked in his letter Georgian Vice-PM and Foreign Minister Davit Zalkaliani for Georgia's contribution to peacekeeping missions in Afghanistan.
Blinken's letter says that Georgia was one of the main contributors to the Resolute Support Mission and the International Security Assistance Force.
The U.S. Secretary of State emphasizes Georgia's significant contribution to the evacuation process of more than 2,500 persons from Afghanistan.
According to Blinken, he pays homage to the 32 Georgian militaries who sacrificed their lives in performing their duties and more than 300 Georgians who were wounded in defending the U.S.-Georgia shared values. ''The U.S. does appreciate strategic partnerships with Georgia,'' the letter reads.
