"Georgia has ratified the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. It is a historic decision," the Chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia, Archil Talakvadze, stated about it at the plenary sitting.
"Human rights defenders and persons with disabilities are best informed about what it means to ratify this Optional Protocol. Thank you all for your support, this is a significant decision, and I hope that it will improve the lives of those with special needs," said Archil Talakvadze.
The Parliament of Georgia ratified the draft resolution - "Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities" today by 82 votes.
According to the Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health, and Social Affairs, ratification of the protocol will facilitate the realization of the rights of persons with disabilities.
