This is immensely important elections, which will attract lots of attention, U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan said after the meeting with Prime Minister and the representatives of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Georgia.
In Degnan's words, each new election in Georgia is better than the preceding one, with this enabling the country to show the world its progress.
"We have the important draft legislation related to the election system reform, and it has already been forwarded to the parliament. We also have constitutional amendments, which are topics of public discussions. This is the opportunity for Georgia to conduct free, reliable, and fair elections under unusual circumstances. The government is just considering different scenarios in the case of the second wave. Other countries' governments are doing the same as we live in an unprecedented epoch. I am confident that these elections will be held so that fair and equal conditions and a level playing field are ensured for all, with voters' rights protected. Precisely this is the goal now," Degnan announced.
