Mikheil Saakashvili, the third President of Georgia, has released the letter in which he has responded to the opposition rally staged today.
''My selfless hero friends!
I am immensely grateful to you that despite intimidation that has not stopped and despite them employing all police forces under their control against their people, you have taken to the streets in great numbers determined to achieve your aim.
I have not gotten out of bed for three days now. However, after watching your rally and hearing you chanting "Georgia," _ I was, obviously, thankful when I also heard my name _ I felt such overwhelming power that I could not remain calm, and I started walking to and fro in my prison cell.
I was convinced once and for all today that victory is too close. Long Live Freedom,'' ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili said in his letter.
Ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili, detained on 1 October, has been on a hunger strike for 46 days now.
