Giorgi Gakharia issues first comment on Congressmen's letter

We are always ready to discuss any topic with our strategic partners. Letters may not be an appropriate manner of communication with strategic partners or friends, Giorgi Gakharia said in his statement on the recent letter by the four US Congressmen.

"We have nothing against discussing all kinds of commentaries, even critical, fair, and unfair from our perspective. Let us sit down and objectively discuss what steps we intend to take in the immediate future. We should understand that irrespective of motives behind similar letters and commentaries, we believe them to be sincere attempts to support Georgia's democratic development, which I strongly believe is backed by our strategic partner, the US. Maybe some commentaries are slightly subjective, but we will discuss them. We will explain everything to everyone, and we will make everyone see an objective picture, which will be seen in the same manner by Tbilisi, Washington, Brussels and other cities which unanimously admit that the country has taken steps forward on the path to its democratic development, and this can be easily noticed. The letter also focused on some economic aspects. Georgia is economically the most rapidly and stably developing country in the region. We will thoroughly explain this to our friends and colleagues with figures, particular examples and results which we are producing," the Prime Minister said.

The Administration of the Government of Georgia has recently published a letter by four Congressmen -- Adam Kinzinger, Gerald Connolly, Eliot Engel, and Michael McCaul -- to Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia. In the letter, the Georgian Dream government has been subject to harsh criticism.
