Ian Kelly, Former US Ambassador to Georgia, appealed to Georgian authorities to take ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili to a civilian hospital.
''Just take him to a damn civilian hospital, at long last. #Saakashvili has said he’ll end his hunger strike if he’s taken to a civilian hospital. Put a perimeter fence around it if you’re worried about unrest,'' he tweeted.
Lawyer Beka Basilaia said earlier that ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili collapsed after meeting lawyers and was taken away on a stretcher.
Mikheil Saakashvili, detained on 1 October, has been on a hunger strike for 49 days now.
