The Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili will take part in the Eastern Partnership Summit to be held in Brussels on December 15 at the invitation of the President of the European Council, the President of the European Commission, and of the Prime Minister of Slovenia, the current chair of the Council of the European Union.

As reported by the government administration, to report.ge, the Prime Minister has already left for the Kingdom of Belgium with a delegation.

A political declaration will be adopted at the summit, in which it is important to reflect on priority issues for Georgia. The declaration reaffirms the strategic importance of the Eastern Partnership for the European Union, as well as its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and its partners within internationally recognized borders.

The Georgian side expects to mention such an important issue as the gradual integration into the EU single market, as well as the approval of the new Eastern Partnership agenda, in the development of which Georgia, along with the EU and other partner countries, was actively involved. As a result, an ambitious agenda has been set to strengthen the security of the partner countries' economies, institutions, societies, environmental and digital transformation mechanisms. The new agenda includes the specific goals to be achieved through the EU's new regional investment plan. For Georgia, this means strengthening transport, energy, and digital connectivity, including by maximizing the potential of the Black Sea.

The Eastern Partnership Summit is a high-level dialogue format between the EU and the Eastern Partnership countries, held every two years. It discusses the most important strategic and political issues and agrees between the parties.

During his visit to Brussels, the Head of the Georgian Government will also hold high-level bilateral meetings. Irakli Gharibashvili will meet with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.

The Georgian delegation, led by the Prime Minister, includes Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Davit Zalkaliani, and Head of the Government Administration Ilia Darchiashvili.
