The Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili met with Maroš Šefčovič, the Vice President of the European Commission for Interinstitutional Relations and Foresight, during his visit to Brussels.

As reported by the government administration, the meeting held at the European Commission focused on the results of the Eastern Partnership summit and the progress made by Georgia on the path to European integration.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed the irreversibility of Georgia's European choice and aspirations, noting that this is confirmed by the Georgian government's plan to make a formal application for full membership in the European Union in 2024.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister and the Vice President of the European Commission discussed important issues on the agenda of Georgia-EU relations, the implementation of the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, as well as current reforms and new directions for future cooperation. Among them, the conversation focused on energy security issues and the potential for renewable energy production in Georgia.
