Irakli Gharibashvili: NATO membership is supported by the absolute majority of the Georgian nation

"NATO membership is a key issue in Georgia's foreign and security policy, supported by the vast majority of the Georgian nation," Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili stated at a joint briefing after meeting with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.

The head of government focused on the issues discussed at the meeting.

"We talked about the current events, the current occupation of Russia. NATO membership is a key issue in Georgia's foreign and security policy. We have all the practical tools for membership and have an active dialogue with our allies.

Every state has the sovereign right to choose its foreign policy course. This decision is the cornerstone of Georgia's NATO membership process. We believe that the successful implementation of this choice is as important for NATO as it is for Georgia," the Prime Minister said.
