Irakli Gharibashvili: The occupation further strengthened the desire of the Georgian nation to create an independent state

"The transfer of Giorgi Kvinitadze, the great Georgian general, the main symbol of the struggle for the freedom and occupation of Georgia, expresses our aspiration to immortalize the idea of the freedom further," Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili stated during his speech at the event dedicated to the Independence Day of Georgia.

According to the head of the government, 30 years ago, with the understanding of the ancestral heritage and the past, Georgia began building a modern state.

"100 years ago, the first democratic republic of Georgia, which aspired to create a European state based on Western values, was hampered by the red occupation. Nevertheless, the occupation further strengthened the desire of the Georgian nation to establish an independent and strong state and become part of the Western world. Thirty years ago, with the understanding of our ancestors' heritage and past, Georgia started building a modern state," the Prime Minister said in a speech.
