Kelly Degnan: Georgia has become a model with the implementation of the Hepatitis C program

"Georgia has become a model for the world with the implementation of the program to eliminate hepatitis C," said the US Ambassador to Georgia, Kelly Degnan, who attended the presentation of the results achieved under the State Program for the Elimination of Hepatitis C, organized by the National Center for Disease Control.

She also noted that the hepatitis C program is an excellent example of a strong partnership between the United States and Georgia in the public health sector.

"The United States and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are very proud of our partnership with the Government of Georgia, the Centers for Disease Control, and the Ministry of Health over the years to eradicate the deadly disease that has more than 150,000 Georgians struggling. The cure rate is 98 percent in citizens who have been treated with this program. This is a huge success.

Georgia has become a model for the world with the implementation of the "C" hepatitis eradication program. This is a great example of a strong partnership between the United States and Georgia in the public health sector," Kelly Degnan stated.
