Within the Ministerial of Transport framework held in Istanbul, Turkey, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natia Turnava met with the Head of the Azerbaijani Delegation, Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Rashad Nabiyev.
At the meeting, the ministers discussed issues of bilateral cooperation between different transport sectors. Areas where the relationship is particularly successful, got highlighted. It was noted that the coordinated cooperation between the countries facilitates the process of attracting cargo in the Europe-Asia transport corridor, which ultimately has a positive effect on the economies of both countries. In particular, there is talk of holding joint presentations on various regional and international platforms, participating in profile exhibitions and other activities.
Special emphasis was placed on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, on which the delegations of Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey signed a special protocol at the Istanbul Ministerial. It was said that the timely completion of the railway line is important. At the same time, it was stressed that the number of containers transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is growing.
