There is noise in the Zugdidi City Council building. The starving members of the newly elected Sakrebulo moved from the room of the faction National Movement to the Sakrebulo meeting hall. However, this decision was met with noise and resistance. Sakrebulo deputies were not allowed to move the mattress from the room of the faction to the session hall. Eventually, the starving MPs managed to move their personal belongings to the session hall; however, after the session started, they were forced to leave the hall by the police force.
One of the hunger strikers, Maia Kalandia, an opposition member of the Sakrebulo, who disobeyed the police and was forced to leave the place, became incapacitated. It became necessary to call an ambulance to the City Council.
"This is no longer an exaggeration; the slaves have tested their muscles on me," Kalandia said.
According to Maia Kalandia, they moved from the faction room to the session hall because they wanted to protest the acceleration of the discussion of the draft budget.
Opposition lawmakers say Georgian Dream members are trying to adjust the budget to their interests and are therefore in a hurry to approve it.
UNM member Ana Tsitlidze says it is unclear why members of the old council should adopt the 2022 budget.
