The Georgian opposition political parties that participated in the October 31 parliamentary election signed the joint statement to refuse to enter the new parliament.
As the statement reads, the voters were intimidated and pressured during the 2020 October 31 election.
"The elections were held amidst the violation and intimidation of the voters, pressure by the State Security Service and criminals, large-scale bribery, the use of administrative resources and affecting the voters' will. It was accompanied by manipulating the protocols and the 'carousel' method that essentially distorted the election results. The final CEC results did not reflect the will of the Georgian voters. For us, the opposition parties, it is clear that Georgians said no to Ivanishvili's government… Therefore, the parliament does not show the voters' will. We, the opposition parties, having seen the falsified elections, reject our MP mandates and refuse to enter the so-called parliament. We think the parliament is illegitimate, as it was elected due to illegal activities and did not express the people's will.
The signatories that failed to enter the parliament for the falsified elections fully agree with the decision. We continue fighting Ivanishvili for the better democratic future of our country. The democratic opposition demands the nullification of the election results and eradication of all systemic violations, including the CEC membership rule that caused the systemic violation of the election,'' the statement reads.
