The Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili met with Iratxe García, Leader of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats parliamentary group.
At the meeting held in the European Parliament, the current issues of Georgia-EU relations were discussed.
The Prime Minister noted that the Georgian government is taking important steps for the country's European integration, is successfully implementing the Association Agreement, and plans to make a formal application for full membership in the EU in 2024.
The Prime Minister thanked the European Parliament for its active support to Georgia's European integration process, security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
Attention was also paid to the ongoing political processes in the country. The great importance of the mediation process initiated by the President of the Council of Europe and the need to conduct it in a constructive, dialogue mode were underlined. The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government's readiness for an ongoing EU-backed dialogue that would facilitate de-escalation and move the process to Parliament.
