The President of Georgia, in the framework of her visit to Israel, opened a new office of Honorary Consulate in Jerusalem.

Tzipi Hotovely, the Minister of Diaspora Affairs of Israel, Moshe Lyon, the Mayor of Jerusalem, and other guests attended the opening ceremony.

The President of Georgia noted that the opening of the new Consulate Office is especially crucial because of the Fifth World Holocaust Forum, which takes place in Israel. The leaders will remember events that happened 75 years ago when Auschwitz was released, and the great tragedy of the Jewish nation was over.

"We remembered this date yesterday and everything about the Georgian-Jewish relations and the Georgia-Israel relations. It is a strong tie, difficult to describe," Salome Zurabishvili said.

The President of Georgia expressed gratitude to Igal Amed, the Honorary Consul of Georgia in Jerusalem, for his hospitality and work.
