Saakashvili appeals to the international community

The third President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, has issued a statement regarding the abduction of a Georgian citizen, Mamuka Chkhikvadze, by the occupation regime and called on the international community to be actively involved in the process of saving and releasing a detainee.

"My full solidarity and support to Mamuka Chkhikvadze, a Georgian fighter captured by the occupiers.

I call on the international community to be actively involved in the process of saving and liberating his life. Although I am actually a captive of the occupation regime, I do not forget the fate of other captives for a moment, and I think that Mamuka Chkhikvadze is in special danger today.

During my presidency, we were quick to release the captives in all such cases. Unfortunately, I can not say anything like that about the gangs formed in the existing government agencies, which adds to my concern about the fate of Mamuka Chkhikvadze," Mikheil Saakashvili said in his address.

The Russian occupation forces abducted Mamuka Chkhikvadze, a citizen of Georgia, from the area near the village of Zemo Nikozi in Gori Municipality on December 12.
