He also thanked the former Speaker of Parliament, Kakha Kuchava, for his decent work during a politically difficult time.
"This year, since independence, turned out to be one of the most difficult for our country. Society simultaneously faced occupation, pandemics, economic challenges, and polarization. Despite these difficult challenges, we have maintained peace under the leadership of our team," Shalva Papuashvili said.
According to him, he will be a guarantor of involvement and participation in the parliamentary life of the opposition elected by the people.
"Parliament is the institution in which the power of the people as the source of power is most expressed. That is why, as the Speaker of Parliament, I will guard parliamentary sovereignty, "said Shalva Papuashvili.
Kakha Kuchava has resigned from the presidency of the Parliament. Shalva Papuashvili will replace him as the Speaker of the Parliament. Parliament should vote for Papuashvili's candidacy today.
