Six members of the Rustavi City Council are going on a hunger strike demanding the transfer of the third president, Mikheil Saakashvili, to a civilian clinic. They are starving in the room of the Sakrebulo faction.
UNM MPs express solidarity to other members of their party.
"We are joining an extreme form of protest called starvation. Today we are going on a hunger strike with six members of the City Council, and we will continue this form of protest until Mikheil Saakashvili is transferred to a multifunctional civil clinic," Nana Shatberashvili said.
Five members of Zugdidi Sakrebulo declared a hunger strike today.
The third president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, has been on a hunger strike for 46 days.
