MEP Viola von Cramon has responded to the video footage released by the Special Penitentiary Service defining the act as 'deplorable.'
''Appalled by ill treatment of ex-president Saakashvili in prison. Spreading these videos by the Government of Georgia is deplorable. The case becomes increasingly political and Georgian Dream 41 more and more resembles the previous government. Georgia deserves better.''
In another tweet, she said ''Saakashvili should immediately stop Hunger Strike, receive proper medical care, and be allowed to attend his own non-politicized trial. Georgia must move beyond this mess and start addressing real problems like Russian occupation, poverty, and backsliding democracy.
...and who benefits from this unnecessary drama? Not people of Georgia and definitely not their international friends but those who gladly trample down the Georgian Five Cross Flag!''
Yesterday, the penitentiary service released the video footage showing ex-president Saakashvili being taken to the Gldani prison hospital.
