State Inspector's Service of Georgia to cease operation on 1 March

The Georgian parliament has approved the draft bill on the State Inspector's Service at its first hearing, with 82 MPs in favor and 7 against. 

By the decision of the parliament, the State Inspector's Service will cease functioning on March 1 of 2022. The state inspector and deputy state inspectors will be dismissed. 

The State Inspector's Service is set to be replaced by two bodies _ the Special Investigation Department and the Personal Data Protection Department.

The Special Investigation Department will look into crimes by public officials, and the Personal Data Protection Department will exercise control over personal data processing and all secret investigation
