"The Azerbaijani side does not consider itself authorized to comment on the legal process taking place on the territory of another country. It would be simply incorrect," said Eldar Bayramov, an adviser at the Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia.
"The position of the Azerbaijani side on all issues related to David Gareja has already been expressed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, as well as in a very short, concrete and understandable text, which belongs to the President's Assistant for Foreign Affairs," Eldar Bayramov noted.
The prosecutor's office detained Iveri Melashvili, an employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Natalia Ilychova, an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on October 7.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, the investigation was based on written information received from the Ministry of Defense of Georgia. For years, the State Border Delimitation-Demarcation Commission under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been continually ignoring relevant documents in the state border agreement and making detrimental decisions for Georgia bypassing them.
