The Ministry of Foreign Affairs spreads the information on illegal process of the barbed wiring and creation of artificial barriers at Atotsi village.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia condemns another decision of continuation of illegal barbed wiring and installing artificial barriers to fortify the occupation line at Atotzi village of Kareli Municipality.On the background of the extremely tense situation this act of the occupation forces represents the targeted provocation which aims at creation of destabilization in the country.The illegal attempt of artificial tensing the situation is aggravating the existing hard situation of security and the human rights, restricts free mobility of the local population and their access to agricultural lands.The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia calls upon the Russian Federation to immediately cease its destructive act, ensure free mobility of the local population and implement the international obligation undertaken by August 12, 2008 Ceasefire Agreement signed under the mediation of European Union.The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has immediately informed the international partners on the processes developed at Atotzi village.The phone-call with the Co-Chairs of the Geneva International Discussions was implemented.The Georgian side appeals for undertaking all measures to avoid this provocation.
European Union Monitoring Mission is also informed on the process; the hot-line is activated.The information is also provided to accredited diplomatic corps in Georgia” – the statement says.
