The House of Representatives supported the act according to which the US provides financial support to Georgia unless the State Secretary, Michael Pompeo, does not ascertain that the fact of democratization strengthening and anti-corruption processes are in the place. In other cases, 15% of the budget will be frozen.
According to the document, minimum 132,035,000 USD is allocated for Georgia, but 15% of the sum might be frozen until the State Secretary justifies at the committee that the Georgian government is taking effective steps in various directions, including the following:
- Strengthening democratic institutes
- Fighting the corruption and introducing the legislation in this sphere
- Considering international standards in the private sector to ensure the rule of law regarding foreign businessmen, protect their interests and investments.
