U.S. Ambassador Degnan says ruling party will have to consider opposition's views

U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan says that after the representatives of the opposition political parties have taken their seats in the parliament, the ruling party will have to consider the views of both the opposition and the civil society.

In her interview with Georgian ''Atinati'' radio, Ambassador Degnan defined the recently reached agreement between Georgian political actors as paramount as the parties now communicate and hold discussions on critical issues, with this having even resulted in the constitutional amendment and the improved election legislation.

In the U.S. ambassador's words, the recently concluded agreement is a tool to pass essential election reforms and eradicate faults in the system.

According to Degnan, opinion clashes are natural; however, the fact that political leaders can openly discuss various serious issues is vital.
