"At the request of both the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides, part of the Russian peacekeeping contingent will be transferred to the conflict zone through Georgian airspace," said Zurab Abashidze, the Special Representative of the Prime Minister of Georgia for Relations with Russia.
According to Abashidze, this process will be held as an exception within a limited time at neighboring countries' request.
"As for Georgia's participation in the logistics (support) of the peacekeeping contingent, the decision will be made based on peacekeeping configuration, taking into account the country's national interests. Due to the urgency of the issue, at the request of both Armenian and Azerbaijani sides, part of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, as an exception, will be transferred to the confrontation zone through Georgian airspace within a pre-agreed and limited timeframe. Our partners are informed about this," Zurab Abashidze told Ekho Kavkaza.
According to Zurab Abashidze, we are talking about the opening of the airspace for a short period, required for the transfer of the contingent.
